Which property of platelets is responsible for the prolonged antiplatelet effect of aspirin?
Drop down in the comments, the complete mechanism and the dose for antiplatelet action.
In short - By inhibiting COX-1 > TXA₂ levels fall > platelet aggregation decreases. Since platelets have no nucleus they can’t resynthesize COX - 1 = The antiplatelet effect lasts for the entire lifespan of the platelet (7–10 days).
Great @DMdoc. You’ve explained it well. What dose do you think Aspirin has antiplatelet action?
