Interestingly, recent studies suggest that psychedelics may promote β€œneuroplasticity,” helping the brain form new neural connections rather than simply masking symptoms like many conventional drugs.
Some researchers even call this a potential β€œreset” for rigid thought patterns seen in depression and PTSD.
Yet, the same altered brain state can trigger severe anxiety, psychosis-like reactions or emotional instability in vulnerable individuals.
This is why experts stress that β€œset and setting” β€” mindset and supervised environment β€” are just as important as the drug itself.
Psychedelic therapy may become a breakthrough in psychiatry, but science still needs long-term safety data.
