We’ve all been there a bit of gas, burning in the chest, or that uncomfortable bloating after a heavy meal… and we instantly reach for a strip of Pan-D.
But what many don’t realize is that taking it regularly can quietly harm your body over time.
What’s really inside Pan-D?
It’s a combo of two powerful drugs — Pantoprazole and Domperidone.
Pantoprazole cuts down stomach acid.
Domperidone helps move food through your stomach and eases nausea.
Doctors usually prescribe it for short-term issues like acidity, gastritis, or reflux not for daily use
What Happens When You Take It Too Often?
Vitamin and Mineral Deficiency: Long-term use can lower Vitamin B12, calcium, and magnesium leading to tiredness, memory issues, and weak bones.
Infections: With less acid, your body’s natural defense weakens, increasing risk of stomach bugs and even pneumonia.
Heart Risk: Overuse of Domperidone can disturb heart rhythm in some people.
Rebound Acidity:When you stop suddenly, acid levels bounce back even higher making you feel worse and dependent on the pill again.
So, Should You Stop Pan-D?
Not suddenly, but only take it when your doctor advises and for a limited time. Remember, Pan-D eases the symptoms but doesn’t cure the root cause.
Your acidity could be due to something deeper like gallbladder stones, H. pylori infection, or lifestyle habits.
A Better Way Forward
Instead of popping Pan-D every morning, try small daily changes:
Eat light and avoid spicy, oily food.
Don’t lie down right after eating.
Cut back on smoking and alcohol.
Manage stress through yoga or meditation.
Pan-D isn’t dangerous when used right but misuse can lead to long-term problems.
Medicine heals when taken wisely; it harms when taken carelessly.
If you’ve been using it regularly, talk to your doctor and find out what your body is really trying to tell you.
