A new study shows that taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) + Advil (ibuprofen) after dental surgery works better than opioids like hydrocodone — with fewer side effects and no addiction risk.
What’s your take on this?
Would you prefer this combo over prescription opioids after surgery?
after surgery taking combination might sound helpful but if the effect wanted might be differing from the original outcome , before taking this two combination i would say you should prefer asking either pharmacist or your doctor .
In my opinion, if the combination of acetaminophen and ibuprofen can provide equal or better pain relief than opioids along with reduction in the risks of addiction, drowsiness, and other adverse effects, it should be considered as a first-line option whenever clinically appropriate. Whereas, the pain management should always be individualized, as some patients and procedures may require opioid therapy. Hence, reducing unnecessary opioid use while maintaining effective pain control is a positive step for patient safety and public health.
