Otrovert: The New Personality Category

American psychiatrist Dr. Rami Kaminski has identified a new personality called “Otrovert”. This personality doesn’t fit neatly into introvert, extrovert or even ambivert.
Introverts recharge by being alone :white_heart:. Extroverts feel energized in crowds :tada:. Ambiverts can feel both comfortable being social but also enjoy quiet time :first_quarter_moon:.
Otroverts are different :brain:. So who are Otroverts?

  • Feel like an outsider -even in groups they belong to.
  • Can be friendly and talkative :slightly_smiling_face: :speaking_head:, yet never fully feel a sense of belonging.
  • Gain energy from their own internal world–ideas :brain: :light_bulb:, curiosity, and self-driven thought processes :thought_balloon:.
  • Highly independent thinkers  and creative but also socially selective .
  • Prefer deep one-on-one conversations :handshake: :speech_balloon: over large group interactions.
  • Often feel out of place at large gatherings and crowds.
  • Comfortable being alone :busts_in_silhouette: but not because they dislike people.

Labels like “otrovert” aren’t just jargon — they give people language to understand themselves better. “I wanted to raise awareness that being a non-joiner doesn’t have to interfere with thriving,” says Dr Kaminski.
So may be you are not fully extrovert , introvert or ambivert.
You might be part of something new . Do you think you are one?:sparkles:

Learnt a new category! very nicely explained.

Hearing it for the first time. I could personally relate with some points to be true to myself.

Very relatable. People generally fall into different categories and expect others to behave the same as they do. Terms like these provide clarification for who they are and help people relate to others who identify the same way
