PM10 is a particulate matter less than 10 micrometer in diameter which can reach up to upper and lower airways , can induce inflammation which leads to fibrosis.
Now a days many studies suggest association between particulate matter and sleep apnea.
PM10 causes mucosal edema , which in turns narrow the respiratory tract ,which exaggerates sleep apnea. It is also known to cause low grade inflammation ,which worsen insulin resistance in obese individual. There is also association with IL 6 , which increase ventilatory drive , and is a important cause for increasing failure rate in CPAP machine for sleep apnea patient in urban area. Do you think this high time to think about these particulate matter affecting our respiratory health?
It should not be overlooked as India has some of world’s most polluted cities. Lung health is at risk and we should ensure to take every protective measure that’s possible.
Pollution, mainly PM 10 is the main culprit behind deduction of life span and induce of severe early health conditions nowdays. Hence Pollution control should be done very aggressively and HEPA filters included air purifier should be used in a highly polluted area and N95 masks should be used when outside.
Kids are the major population affected by the situation. It’s their right to drink pure water and air, but nowadays it has been violated. The problem gets worse during the winter season. The changing weather forecast has made it even worse.
The government should take measures to check air pollution. Raising awareness programme, reducing construction ducts, promoting public transport systems, promoting electric vehicles, and implementing emission control policies, especially in factories.
