Not so Fairy Tale: Truth about Growing Up

In our childhood, we all came across the fascinating thought about what it feels like to be a grown-up person. Seeing our elder brother and sister, we always had a fairy tale story of how easy their life is. No school, no homework, no studying for school exams only fun. We wished to accelerate time and become one of them.

Breaking the bubble:

When it was our time to be adults, we realized what we saw and wished for as children was only touching the surface. The reality is different and it hits hard. Growing up is messy, uncomfortable and not what we dreamt of as children. It also helps us become a better version of ourselves. Growing up involves:

  • Responsibilities
  • Independence
  • Self - awareness
  • Learning and growing
  • Change in our thinking process
  • Acceptance
  • Resilience
  • Being strong
  • Wisdom

Sweet & Sour:

Everyone has their own experiences of living life and becoming a better version of themselves. There is no wrong or right way. It is always the choices that we make in everyday life. To quote it in short, "Freedom comes with responsibilities". It is a never-ending process. Though adulting might not look like what we expected as children at the start, looking at the broader picture, all the pieces seem to fit in the right place and at the right time, just like a jigsaw puzzle. Confusing and chaotic at the start, but it gradually completes as a beautiful picture. For me, adulting feels like hitting a dead end at every turn. But eventually, somehow, with time, it all begins to make sense. And that’s the beauty of growing up.:seedling:

How do you feel about adulting?
