More than studying for 12 hours, students should focus on studying effectively. Continuous hours of studying can be exhausting, and the brain might get tired too. Though it depends on individual choice, taking sufficient breaks will ensure the studied information is retained.

I think studying for 12 hrs may work for some to get better marks but understanding the concept always wins .

Today, most parents encourage their children to score above 90 in order to compete with peers, which has unfortunately shifted the focus from building skills and practical knowledge to chasing marks. Coaching centres have become profit-driven, often exploiting students in the name of extra coaching. Instead, subject experts should be invited directly into schools to provide guidance within the school premises. These experts deserve fair compensation, unlike the current system where coaching centres dominate. The government should regulate and fix reasonable fees so that every student can afford quality coaching. Education must remain a tool for empowerment, not a business that loots students and families.

I hope you will agree with me. If I were to become CM or PM, my priority would be to clean up the flaws and inefficiencies in the current education system. Leadership of the Education Ministry should rest not with a single individual, but with a panel of experienced and professional educationists drawn from across India. This panel must be independent of political choices, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interest of students and the nation’s future. Only then can we build an education system that values knowledge, skills, and fairness over politics and profit.

I see this as a myth. Studying 12–16 hours a day doesn’t guarantee a better rank. What truly matters is smart learning understanding concepts, active recall, and spaced repetition. Reviewing what you learn for even 1–2 focused hours daily strengthens long-term memory far more than passive, prolonged studying. When you truly understand a topic, memorizing endlessly isn’t necessary.

:books::brain: You mentioned smart studying plus time works better than just hours . What specific strategies help you study “smart” instead of just longer?

Yes but how would you design a structured study schedule that keeps energy and retention high over weeks?

Yes breaks are necessary but what break pattern (e.g., Pomodoro) do you find best helps retain what you study?

what are your go-to methods for conceptual understanding rather than memorizing facts?

What specific techniques do you think make a study session truly “effective” .It it active recall, spaced repetition, or teaching someone else? :books::repeat_button:

:hourglass_not_done::books: That’s a solid routine! How do you structure your weekly revision to avoid forgetting earlier topics? :repeat_button::brain:

By “quality” in a study session do you mean recall accuracy, concept clarity, question-solving ability, or something else? :brain::sparkles:

How do you practically balance concept mastery, active recall, and spaced repetition within just 1–2 focused hours a day?

while studying for course, study for 2-3 hours daily. Revise on regular basis. If preparing for NEET increase the hours. Study more than one subject each day, one subject that you find easy and other a difficult or less interesting
