In Bachelors, you have gained knowledge and are introduced to all the departments of pharmacy through academic subjects. Now, to get deeper insights into the subject and know the real-life applications of your knowledge, you choose to pursue a master’s degree accordingly. This degree shapes your future as to what your dream job will be.

How to get into M. Pharm colleges?

After qualifying the popular national-level exam which every pharma student is familiar with, i.e., GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test). And only those students who have qualified the GPAT are allowed to sit for the NIPER (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research) JEE to get admission in any NIPER colleges across India. Students prefer GPAT as it provides them with a scholarship/stipend for two years as soon as they get admission in an M. Pharm college.

Non-GPAT exam::memo:

Apart from these exams, there are different entrance exams which are conducted by respective colleges who are providing M. Pharm education. In some states, a state-level entrance test is conducted for pharmacy colleges. Some Non-GPAT exams are listed below:

  • MET (Manipal Entrance Test)
  • BITS HD (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Higher Degree): offers a stipend
  • SRM JEEH - PG (SRM Joint Engineering Examination for Health Sciences - Postgraduate)
  • JSS AHER - PG (JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research)
  • BVP CET-PHARMPG (Bharti Vidyapeeth Common Entrance Test for Pharmacy Post Graduate)

:white_check_mark: Points to keep in mind:

  • Check authenticity: Always check the authenticity of any college before taking admission. Look for whether it is an AICTE-approved institute or not.
  • Form Filling: My advice is to appear for all the exams regardless of whatever your dream college is. I had a roller coaster experience when my GPAT result was not released and I missed out on MET and BITS HD. But I was relieved after I saw that I had qualified for my GPAT.
  • Study for: As I had appeared for non- GPAT exams, I can assure you focus on Pharmacology. And most importantly on the Classification part. Along with this, Pharmaceutics and Organic Chemistry. Half of your battle ends after studying these subjects.
  • Have patience: This whole time asks for your patience. You will see others getting into other colleges or entering jobs while you are waiting for your results. But be positive and believe in yourself and your hard work. You are competing for seats, which requires patience and a calm mind.
