Hospitals are places where people go to get better, but they can also have tiny germs hiding around. To fight these invisible enemies, hospitals are now using cool new helpers: Disinfection Robots.
What are they?
Think of a smart robot that moves around hospital rooms and hallways on its own. Instead of using hands, it has a special tool to clean the air and surfaces.
How do they work?
Their secret power is UV-C light. This is a strong, invisible light that works like kryptonite for germs. As the robot drives around, it shines this light everywhere, zapping germs like bacteria and viruses so they can’t make people sick anymore.
Why are they important?
You might have heard of HAIs (Hospital-Acquired Infections). These are infections people get while they’re in the hospital, and they’re a big problem.
After the hospital staff clean a room, these robots go in for an extra round of protection. They can reach tricky spots and help make sure the room is as safe as possible, lowering the chance of patients getting an infection.
Would you feel safer knowing a robot zapped the germs in your hospital room?
