An Oregon woman has filed a $13 million lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente, alleging that a podiatrist injected rubbing alcohol into her toes instead of a local anesthetic before removing two ingrown toenails.
Sarah Blackman, a Washington County resident, claims she visited Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center in January 2026 for the procedure. According to the lawsuit, the doctor was supposed to use lidocaine to numb her toes but allegedly injected 4 millilitres of 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol into each affected toe.
Blackman alleges that she screamed, cried, and begged the doctor to stop as the procedure continued. Days later, she reportedly developed swelling and toe discoloration and was later hospitalized for two nights.
The lawsuit names Dr. Colin Mizuo and seeks $13 million in damages. The allegations remain unproven in court, and the case is pending.
