Makeup bill versus Dental bills!

People spend lakhs of money on their wedding day, only to look good for a maximum of 24 hours.Nobody is questioning their decision as it is their special day.

Not trying to disrespect the other professions, but why do people tend to bargain in their dental billing?

People are willing to pay on parlours, which are gonna come off in hours but when it comes to dental treatments they hesitate. One such example is veneers, that gives people their beautiful smile for long period of time, but people hesitate to pay for it.

What could be the reason?

May be it’s not about the comparison between makeup artist or dentist, It’s about self belief.

Those makeup artist are charging that much because they think their work is worth the price.

But dentist in tier 2 or tier 3 cities are getting undercharged and that affects the quality of treatment and respect. The associates are getting underpaid as well.

Key takeaway

Indian dentist charges lowest among the professionals offering world class treatment.

When we undercharge we question our self worth and our self believe.

So reminder to all fellow dentist

Not to overcharge ,but not to undercharge. To believe in what we do because we give someone their dream smile and its worth it.When we value our work, everyone else will too!

Why do we undercharge? Do you think quantity of patients matter over quality of treatment?

The problem is , everybody check their vitals , CBP , Blood glucose ( basic tests ) …once to thrice in a year. But never our parents take us to a dentist without any problem , just to make sure they’re healthy too like as every other organ. It’s the mindset .

People in India consider dental visits a frivolous expense. We undercharge because of the society that shaped our mindsets. Constant bargaining is one such cause of this circumstance.

The patients need greater awareness of the skill, time, and expertise behind quality dental treatment, while professionals need to recognise the worth of their work.

Everything that is not talked much, or given much heed is undercharged. Dentistry profession is one of those, it starts from childhood, we have in our mind that nothing can go beyond cavity and that is also preventable if we brush with promoted toothpaste.

I feel that whether we undercharge for our services or try to offer parlour-like treatments in a dental clinic, we end up lowering the value of our own profession.
