During exams, I used to think that sitting for long hours meant I was preparing well. But honestly, it didn’t always show in my results. That’s when I started wondering-- maybe it’s not just about how long we study, but how we study.
Gradually, I changed my approach. Making short notes and using sticky notes helped me simplify heavy topics. Mnemonics made it easier to remember tricky points, especially during revision. What really helped was active recall– trying to remember things on my own instead of just rereading them again and again.
I also found that explaining topics to friends made a big difference. It helped me understand what I actually knew and where I was still confused. And the pomodoro technique kept me focused without feeling too exhausted.
Even after trying all this, I feel like there’s no single “perfect” method. What works for one person might not work for someone else, and finding what suits you takes time.
So, what do you think matters more during exams-- the number of hours you study, or the way you study?
And what has actually worked best for you?
