Lithium: A New Hope for Alzheimer's?

A recent study in mice has proved that Lithium has the potential to reverse Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers discovered that a fall in lithium levels in the brain is closely related to memory loss, plaque buildup and tau tangles, and now restoring the lithium levels in mice has shown significant changes- memory returned, plaques vanished and brain function rejuvenated. This lithium approach also tackles all major Alzheimer’s pathologies like amyloid, tau and gene expression, unlike other drugs that only target amyloids. It is yet to be confirmed in clinical trials, and if it gets approved, it can have profound impact.

Wouldn’t it be a game-changer if a simple lithium supplement could reverse the condition and aid millions of people living with Alzheimer’s? Share your views on it.
