LinkedIn is considered an essential part of many competitive fields like IT/ CSE and many other streams of commerce and humanities.
However, I haven’t seen a lot of medical professionals on there. Or at least don’t update it as often. What is your opinion on medical professionals using LinkedIn?
It matters for networking when it comes to research and when it comes to changing to non clinical path like hospital management.
Also for fields like medical writing freelance , it can be helpful
LinkedIn is great for connection and opportunities that can’t be found normally. It helps you get a edge from your peers who aren’t there. Also, It’s really crucial if you are interested in research.
In today’s digital age, having a strong LinkedIn presence can open doors to many new opportunities by showcasing your skills and qualifications. It helps us connect with various individual professionals & is great for personal branding.
As a medical student, I’ve noticed LinkedIn isn’t widely used in our field, but I believe it’s a powerful tool for networking, research visibility, and exploring interdisciplinary opportunities.
Linkedin is important for medical professional, in this site various health practitioner and officials involved in healthcare sector and research, keep us updated about new medications, research and any new disease identified and even update on banning of certain drugs and adr related to them.
Apart from the networking n connecting , LinkedIn is a great way to stay updated with new medical researches n courses . I get to know about a bunch of new careers I could pursue after MBBS from linkln . Ik it isn’t used commonly our field but I guess medicos should start using it more often
LinkedIn can be a powerful yet underused tool for medical professionals. While it’s true that doctors and med students often don’t prioritize it—busy with rounds, exams, and research—the platform offers more than just job hunting. It’s a space to showcase achievements, connect with mentors, share medical insights, and stay updated on global healthcare trends. For those aiming for international exams, fellowships, or interdisciplinary collaborations, a well-kept LinkedIn can quietly open doors. It’s not about self-promotion—it’s about visibility in a field where your work often speaks quietly but deserves to be heard.
LinkedIn is great for networking… but also it depends on people you connect with and follow… there are many medical professionals who are active as much as the humanities & IT people
I think the greater your connections, the greater are chances of getting recruited on LinkedIn. However, I too have found that medical professionals are not very active on this platform and those who are available are less likely to be helpful.
