What are the advantages of Lap Chole over open chole??

I prefer laparoscopic cholecystectomy over open because it’s minimally invasive, offers faster recovery, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, and better cosmetic results. It also allows patients to return to normal activities much sooner.

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
β€’ Minimally invasive (4 small incisions)
β€’ Faster recovery (usually discharged same or next day)
β€’ Less postoperative pain
β€’ Better cosmetic results
β€’ Lower risk of wound infection
β€’ Shorter hospital stay
β€’ Quicker return to daily activities (within 1–2 weeks)
Open Cholecystectomy
β€’ Traditional approach (single large incision under right ribs)
β€’ Indicated when laparoscopic approach is unsafe, such as:
β€’ Severe inflammation or adhesions
β€’ Complicated gallbladder disease (e.g., perforation)
β€’ Intraoperative complications
β€’ Longer recovery time (hospital stay 3–5 days, return to normal in 4–6 weeks)
β€’ More postoperative pain
β€’ Higher risk of wound complications
