Kawasaki Disease (KW) is a form of vasculitis. The exact cause is unknown, but it is thought to be an auto-immune disorder. As we know, KD causes high grade fever, rash and LN swelling (MCLNS) in kids under five years of age and in many instances, cardiac aneurysms can develop. And treatment with Aspirin and IVIG- we know these pointers.
A new study from Lurie children hospital in Chicago points that there may be a respiratory virus causing this. The virus has so far not been identified.
