Is Virus repurposing future of drug delivery?

Virus repurposing is a new and bio-efficient method of smart drug delivery,as it uses genetically modified viruses as carriers or delivery vehicles(vectors) which carry therapeutic material to the desired location . They enter the cells without causing any disease and deliver drug or gene.

Very curious topic, that would be a great ,if we successfully succeeded in this virus-vector process.

That would be a very efficient method but what if the virus mutates or it delivers to the wrong target?

Virus repurposing is a fascinating innovation in biotechnology. By modifying viruses to act as harmless carriers, scientists can deliver drugs or genes directly into target cells with high efficiency. This smart delivery system reduces side effects and improves precision in treatment. It’s a promising step toward safer and more effective therapies.

Good point Pavithra,

The virus cannot mutate because we remove all the genetic material from virus and simply use it as a delivery cart.

There are comparitively very low chances of delivery at wrong location since the infected area is affected due to a particular antigen and almost in all cases we use the same antigen for drug delivery so that it doesn’t mess up.
