I feel that post MBBS, whether it’s while preparing for PG or after getting into PG, students should look into Medical writing courses.
Proficiency in medical writing may be useful in the long run. For people staying in clinical practice, it can help with enhancing your grasp on Medicine. even if you pursue medical writing on the side, as you read and write about topics that you choose, it’ll help in clarifying your concepts about the same.
If someone wants to move to non-clinical completely. Medical Writing is a good place to start. It is helpful in securing opportunities in:
- Pharmaceutical industry as a regulatory writer
- Clinical research
- Medical journals and peer reviews
- Freelance work with platforms like Upwork
It is a good source of income as a freelancer, especially during PG preparation, as whatever you learn from it will help with enhancing your knowledge for PG exams as well.
There are a lot of free courses available on medical writing on platforms like youtube, Coursera etc.
If anyone has any inputs on how to gain experience in medical writing post MBBS. Kindly share.
