In India, the whole pharmacy study is not well appreciated and not provided with right compensation compared to global level. You can’t get into core job with a optimum salary.
Pharm D is definitely an evolving field in India. Yeah, it’s a long 6-year journey, but it’s not just about getting a degree, it really opens up a wide range of pathways.
Apart from the usual clinical pharmacy and hospital roles, Pharm D grads can work in pharmacovigilance, medical writing, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and even healthcare IT.
Pharm D in India is introduced basically to train clinical pharmacists. But as the course is in the initial phase, We have to search for roles to gain skills .There are many oppurtunities in pharma field like CRC,PV and Medical Writing. We have to maintain good long term goals and keep updates regarding pharma field. But at the starting phase after the course is completed we have to keep looking for skills rather than money mostly in the clinical pharmacist role.
It is very tough to get graduated in Phrama D, In my personal opinion I have’nt choose it and went for B.pharmacy. But In india I dont think It has diverse roles and career path one should thrive in it.
As a Pharm .D graduate , I agree to this statement we face a lot of challenges from studying pharm .D to get a job because most of hospitals in India have very less to no role of clinical pharmacist in their hospital , lack of clinical exposure and limited job opportunities and most of health professional and pharmaceutical company confuses us with D pharmacy they even don’t know our role to what suitable job they can give us , we people fill very underconfident , confusion about our career path . Despite all of the issues there are opportunities if we upskill fields like Pharmacovigilance , clinical research , medical writing , are open to us . But the health system need to focus and spread the awareness about the job opportunities in the heath sector that could support the Pharm .D graduates more effectively
Pharm.D is a very good opportunity for who want to continue their career in abroad. In India Pharm.D is still developing and started to be recognised by Healthcare professionals. Eventhough, B.Pharm graduates are also eligible for most of the jobs that a Pharm.D graduate can do but some companies prefer Pharm.D graduates for specific roles like Clinical Research, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Writing.
PharmD scope in India is decent, but it’s tough to get a good job without experience. Lots of students are graduating, and the competition is high.
While I was seeking admissions (2021), the only opinion I had about Pharm D was opt for it only if you wanna go abroad. As in there is very little scope and growth in India. Infact I’ve seen recent graduates and even those who are studying perform the role similar to assistant doctors. Though the field is on the verge of developing, the recognition, the job role, the responsibilities are not defined well. The designation is more respected abroad.
Pharm D is really a good course to complete, it makes you gain knowledge and practicals on clinical research. It’s in the developing stage.
A big NO. The pathways for pharm d should be in hospital but due to undeveloped healthcare in India pharm d is still not considered to be the best practice in hospitals
Right. And this is unfortunate
Pharm.D in India can be a steppingstone to a lucrative career, but not a goldmine by itself. The key is to specialize, upskill, and explore global or research-based opportunities.
Pharm D in Abroad have more opportunity than India.
