Health Minister of your state- What One Thing You Will Do?

Free sanitary pads, Free diagnosis camps, taking many initiatives to spread awareness constantly about health and wellbeing, in schools, rural areas, and communities.

Also educate students of both genders about menstruation and how it is important to understand about these things and not treat them like unspeakable issues.

Improve the healthcare and life sciences education system. More practical real world oriented rather than just theory.

Focus more on eradicating adulteration in food and medical products.

This is one of the most intensive topics in the medical fraternity. Reducing the work hours for the resident dentists. It bas been some time that our beloved Infosys chairman made. As much I was against it during my post graduation days, today as a working professional i understand the gap that there exists between between the demand and supply. We have a number of doctors and dentists ready and willing to put in the hours, but our system is so broken and paralysed that there is no proper management to incorporate them into the work system. The quality of education of the private institutions are so deeply hampered that even if we are producing a herd of them every year, we still lack confident and abled ones. And hence there is a difference in number and eventually we have to depend on the existing residents and their patience and long slogging hours. The issue is too deep to be managed by superficial changes.

state: uttarakhand

  1. especially the remote areas in hilly parts of uttarakhand , for every 5 villages there should be a health centre nearby with basic facilities.
  2. the main hospital in that tehsil should have facilities such as x ray blood tests ct scan etc so that they dont have to travel to cities or towns for that .
  3. proper supervision and regulation of the staff members , pharmacy fucntioning in that hospitals everything should be proper.
  4. monthly helath camps in remote villages.

As a health care minister I will make sure there is strict vigilance of the primary healthcare services, fair distribution of resources to all and proper sanitation and sterilization maintained throughout.

State:Gujarat

As Gujarat’s health minister I want to undertake something like:

  • Compulsion of Exercise and yoga for school and college..not just as something you can do daily but without you can’t eligible for next grade.
  • Compulsion of ‘Metabo Law’ - Japanese law to combat metabolic syndrome.

If I were appointed health minister of my state I would focus on strengthening primary health care ..

. Ensure the availability of doctors , nurses, medicines etc.:stethoscope: :syringe:

Introduce diagnostic facilities

. working 24/7 in need ..

I will ensure there are Govt Hospitals at each district, and within cities there are at least dispensaries, or PHCs to address the emergency issues, to prevent unwanted deaths.
I will ensure there are Mobile Emergency care services in the form of ambulances available so that unfortunate accidents can be taken care of before the patient reaches hospitals.

1- Make emergency medicines cheap and readily available.

2- Make sure there are sufficient number of doctors in government hospitals.

State: Maharashtra

If I became a health minister for a week, I will work on few high-impact tasks quickly.

1. Improving air quality of the state- I would initiate a time-bound focus on the major pollution sources such as construction dust, waste burning and traffic congestion. In today’s growing pollution, where young children have also been seen suffering from respiratory issues, these concerns need to be solved at the earliest.

  1. Statewide screening: I will work on launching statewide screening for hypertension, obesity and diabetes mellitus as these are not only affecting adults but has been tremendously seen in younger populations too. Screening will ensure early detection which will ultimately assist in prompting early treatment and hence reducing complications such as stroke or renal failure.
  2. Awareness on plastic, nicotine products- Ban on use of plastic, avoidance of nicotine and nicotine containing products will be established on a large scale.
  3. Emergency centers- As a health minister, I will emphasize setting up emergency centers at national highways with well-equipped medical services. This will help save patient’s lives if they faced any serious incidents on highways.

I would definitely go for the capital city, Delhi.

One week would really be too short, as there is so much to do.

But the two things that come to my mind are:

  1. Abolish VIP culture in government hospitals by ensuring quality treatment for the rich and poor.
  2. Ensure more healthcare professionals are appointed in the government sector, providing quality care to the public and employment opportunities to our healthcare workers.

If I were to be the Health Minister of my state , that is Andhra Pradesh or let me get a little ahead and imagine, I’m the Health Minister of India . These are the following changes I would immediately work on:

  1. We as health care professionals complain about the oversaturation and lack of job opportunities in the urban India and the whole chunk of young generation of Dental and Medical doctors aim to work in the best of the best centres in the city. I would start fully government funded, government salaried posts for doctors in rural India on a rotation basis that would cater to health care needs of rural population and also would appeal to City bred doctors as they are temporary positions , but are well paid and prestigious that would urge younger doctors to work in rural areas.

  2. I would release more funds and urge Medical and Dental colleges to conduct free continuing education programs, upskill programs and workshops regularly that would help the doctors to become complete clinicians, make them perfect and confident in their craft through continued mentorship and urge them to enhance knowledge and skills and be on par with the rapidly changing scenario of healthcare and disease diagnostics .

Country: Pakistan
If I were the health minister of my state, the one thing I would prioritize is making primary healthcare strong and accessible for everyone .

  1. Ensuring free or affordable essential medicines.
  2. Introducing preventive care programs (vaccinations, maternal care, health awareness)

Because most serious health problems can be prevented or treated early if people have easy access to basic care. It reduces hospital burden, saves money, and improves overall public health.

State - Madhya pradesh ( because that’s my state and I’ll like start changes from here only)

  1. Safety of healthcare professional, should be taken care of.
  2. More opportunities for interns and fresher doctors , with better pay.
  3. Safety of female doctors.
  4. Working hours of doctors should be managed, if they don’t rest properly, it will be problematic for both doctor as well as patient.

If I were Health Minister of India for a week, I would focus on three pillars:

  1. Digital Integration: Unifying rural and urban clinics through a centralized digital health record system to ensure seamless care.

  2. Preventive Diagnostics: Launching nationwide mobile screening camps for early detection of lifestyle diseases, bringing healthcare directly to the people.

  3. Improve generic medicine efficacy and cost effective awareness to public ,its Availability.

Country: India

State: Bihar

I think you know why this state requires a good, knowledgable and the one who cares for people health.

  1. I would upgrade and make health & wellness centres available in every locality.
  2. there are shortages of doctors in rural areas, will fill the doctor shortages by posting rural service.
  3. ensure essential drug availability in all govt facilities.
  4. have better health infrastructure and health policies.
  5. upgrade disctict level diagnostic labs and ensure it’s affordable for all.

Becoming a health minister won’t fix everything in one night we need whole working system that works even without one important person, ensuring everything matters the pateint who’s coming for the treatment get the low cost better treatment and the healthcare professional need to stay charge as well to work from their heart but not under stress or frustration.

  • pateint safety

  • cost effective treatment

  • More hospitals

  • low working hours

  • Effective communication among rural areas.

  • Speeding awareness programs

There are the things that people don’t talk about which i would like to fix.

First of all it’s not possible and even neither realistic that we can change health care system over night in the country as India. It requires equally proper planing and coordination.

Still strong steps such as:

  1. starting health care camps such as free screening camps for bp, diabetes and other diseases for the early detection and taking major steps for treatment.

  2. clean water and Sanitation to prevent common diseases and improved overall public health

3)set up for 24/7 helplines for medical guidance and medical support

As a health minister.

1. I would like to maintain clean hygiene practices in government hospitals. Increase the government-allotted seats in healthcare settings to increase the upcoming doctors.

2. Provide insurance to the patients to make healthcare easily affordable.

If I were the Health Minister of my state, I would prioritize affordable, locally manufactured medical devices. India has the potential to reduce costs through domestic innovation and medical device parks, improving accessibility and strengthening self-reliance in healthcare.

If appointed Health Minister of Tamil Nadu for a week, I would deploy a real time public health grid linking PHCs, labs, and pharmacies. Alongside, I’d pilot Al triaged mobile clinics delivering doorstep preventive care; a decisive shift from reactive medicine to precision, population wide prevention.
