From glossy hair colour to smooth, frizz-free hair, salon hair treatments have become a popular part of beauty routines. But behind that instant transformation is a combination of chemicals, conditioning agents, and sometimes heat. Let’s understand these treatments.
-
Hair Colour: Hair colour can range from temporary dyes to permanent colour. Permanent hair dyes use chemicals that allow colour to penetrate hair shaft and alter its natural pigment. However, repeated bleaching and colouring can cause hair dryness and breakage.
-
Keratin Treatment: It is used to make hair smooth and shiny. Hair is treated with a formulation and then exposed to heat. Some products contain chemicals releasing formaldehyde that can irritate eyes and skin.
-
Hair Botox: It doesn’t involve botulinum toxin injections. It is a cosmetic conditioning that contains ingredients that temporarily make hair feel softer.
-
Nanoplastia: It is used for hair smoothing and straightening. Different brands use different formulations. However, chemical processing and heat can contribute to dryness and breakage.
Are these treatments safe?
They can be safe when performed correctly, but they are not completely risk-free. Safety depends on the actual ingredients, concentration, application technique, heat exposure, frequency and condition of the hair. Repeated chemical processing and high heat can weaken the hair shaft, particularly when treatments are done more frequently.
Have you ever tried any of these hair treatments? What was your experience?
