Exploring Scholarships for medical students

Access to Medical Education

Considering how expensive education is, it’s natural that students look for scholarships :graduation_cap:. Unfortunately, opportunities in healthcare remain limited, and many students begin their careers under significant financial strain :money_with_wings:.

In India, we often see two extremes, those who can afford private education, and those who spend years preparing for a government seat. While understandable, it raises questions about sustainability, especially in a field that already demands years of rigorous training and often underpaid or unpaid clinical work.

As we discuss strengthening healthcare systems, it may also be worth reflecting on how accessible medical education really is.

If I were starting again, these are some scholarships I’d definitely explore early on. Sharing this list of MBBS scholarships (India & abroad) feel free to add more. Even PG scholarships, rare grants and scholarship loans might help someone :handshake:

Very informative post. I feel that more and more opportunities should be provided by the government which will help interested students in pursuing MBBS and avoid stress regarding finances. A good healthcare system not only depends on the technologies and treatment options available but also on preparing students for being great future doctors and also catering to the needs of present doctors.
