It is often said, “Work smarter, not harder”. This quote perfectly applies to studying. During exam, it is not possible to go through each and every topic in detail. It is time consuming and practically not possible with the huge syllabus. This is when last minute revision notes can be helpful.
Revision notes should be such that the entire topic is summarized and easy to recall during exam.
What are some of the ways of creating revision notes?
-
Understand the topic first and write in your own words instead of textbook sentences.
-
Instead of big paragraphs, use headings and subheadings. Write clear and short points under these headings. They are easy to scan and remember.
-
Mark important keywords which will be easy to recollect.
-
Highlight important stuff like definitions, mechanisms and important formulas.
-
Use more flowcharts, diagrams and tables. Visual memory lasts longer and easy to recollect.
-
Mnemonics can also be very useful.
Final thoughts
Effective notes are not about writing more, but the ones which help you recall during exam.
