Dissociative anaesthesia

The drug which is used to give dissociative anaesthesia is Ketamine . It is given at per- op especially to the children before surgery. It depends in individual children some may want that because they will be crying and will not come inside OT to them the ketamine is given . It will come under the general anaesthesia category and given along with other drugs . It will provide slight loss of consciousness .

The name dissociative anaesthesia means the person is conscious but will not be attentive to the surroundings . They will be present in their own world . And after certain amount of time the anaesthesia action will be gone and they will recover.

Yes, I have heard of ketamine! You explained it really well. It is especially helpful in kids who are too anxious before surgery. I also read that it keeps heart rate stable and is used in emergencies too. And recently, it is being studied for depression at low doses.
