Okay so they’ll take all the street dogs away, but where will they accomodate these dogs?? Will they really be taken care of?
Public safety matters no doubt, but has government found other places for their relocation? Is there any guarantee that they will be safe and have sufficient amount of supply of food and water?
I feel it’s wrong decision. Atleast they can provide rabies injection, vaccination and other medical services and provide shelter on the road side itself rather than taking this decision.
Dogs are loyal and loving companions. We often get to hear news of them attacking children and that is heartbreaking. Controlling their population through birth control and vaccinations are indeed a good step. However, we cannot completely ignore them, as they also have the right to live on this planet.
As a person who has been bit by street dog, I know how scary it is. This idea by government is such a great initiative so that no children or adults have to scared of where they are walking or when will they get bit. However, your points are also very solid. The government should implement something that is also not cruel to dogs.
That’s a great solution you have mentioned
I think goverment shouldn’t take such hasty decisions and think about facing the problem and improvising the solutions rather than throwing out the problem itself
If government plans according to SC’s order they should also assure the rehabilitation of those pure souls, who are selfless lovers to the ones who shows love towards them.
This is a tough call stray dogs in Delhi are both a public safety concern and living beings deserving humane treatment. The Supreme Court’s removal order comes amid rising bite and rabies cases, but bypasses the Animal Birth Control (ABC) policy that focuses on sterilization, vaccination, and return.
Sudden relocation of lakhs of dogs isn’t realistic with Delhi’s limited shelters. A balanced approach strengthening ABC programs, expanding facilities, and involving communities might protect both people and animals better than abrupt removal.
Stray dogs does harm people sometimes without reason iam not animal abuser but yes both side has to understand the debate we can’t let them as they are. And also not to kill them , just take care of them
Increasing cases of attacks surely can’t be passed over. Balanced solutions of human sterilisation, vaccination and responsible feeding are needed which safeguard the interests of both humans and animals instead of turning it into an “us versus them” situation.
The state of our governance is truly pitiful, our priorities lie in the wrong place. The most beneficial and humanitarian course of action would be to focus on the violence and injustice we inflict on each other every single day, rather than the rare, isolated cases of animal incidents. How can we displace the animals from their own habitat? What right do we have? Would we be as extreme with our punishments towards human perpetrators? Would you punish the masses for one criminal? Simply inhumane.
Given Delhi’s projected stray dog figure of roughly one million, and that only a minority are sterilized, improving Animal Birth Control (ABC) activities is critical. Incomplete sterilization impacts prevention and control efforts by providing a huge number of hosts for rabies and other veterinary illnesses.
