Childhood in the New Era: No Longer a Phase, but a Race

New Era..New World.. Competitive World-Where everything is granted by grading and rating..Seems like That tiny human beings who just start to explore things begin to be rated by their performance at every level of their growth And with that Childhood no longer a phase but a mere RACE.

Childhood is the crucial period for brain development where cognitive & Emotional skills are formed.

And that most crucial period In this new world is mostly ruined by their parents, family and by their surroundings.

Current scenario:

The Myth of the “Extraordinary Child”:

Every child has a super brain and they are skilled like extraordinary.

Fast forward Development:

No time for reset or pause or being slow.. everything is fast- and you have to cope up with that..

The Pressure to be Multitalented:

In the new world..all the parents want their child to learn everything means everything around them.

Unfulfilled Dreams, Transferred Expectations:

Parents want to do all the things or all activities by their child which they would miss.

Impact on Child:

This all current scenario does not affect all the children..as most children cope up with all this..as they are born with different types of more efficient neuronal systems.

But some of them are not really made of this type of races..they have their own nature, cognitive and emotional skill, their own speed to learn and grow and they land up in different types of psychological and psychosomatic diseases.

This all leads to an increase in the case of:

• ADHD

• Childhood depression

• Generalized Anxiety Disorder

• Restlessness

• Juvenile DM

• Disturbed sleep ,ETC.

According to WHO:

Nearly 8% of children worldwide experience mental health disorders, with environmental stressors playing a significant role.

Childhood was never meant to be a race. The challenge today is not just preparing children for the future—but ensuring their present mental and emotional well-being is not compromised in the process.

What’s your POV on this? Can there be a need to redefine the education system or parenting style to handle this little pocket of smart brains.?

More than the education system, I think the parenting technique needs to change. With the number of children per family drastically reducing, the parents force children to participate in all the available platforms, trying to make them “THE PERFECT CHILD”

Yes absolutely right

The link between early pressure and mental health outcomes is important to acknowledge.

Definitely raises a valid point about child health in this digital era.

I think everything has to change according to the new coming up generations, from parenting, teaching, learning, behaviour, eating habits to technology.

I Agree . Constant comparison can negatively impact a child’s confidence and behaviour, making them feel inadequate. Over time, this pressure can affect their mental health. Every child is unique, and focusing on their individual growth is more important than comparing them with others
