Can AI be trusted when it comes to healthcare systems? Can AI really replace healthcare professionals?

One thing world is non-negotiable and that is our health. We all know that health care is the most important thing in humans life. As we hold responsible a finance person to look after finances, farmer for quality of grains, teachers for our better education similarly we should hold responsible healthcare professionals for our health when under treatment.

We all know being a doctor is the most sacrificing job but responsibility is ours when something happens to a pateint. Now a human doctor can understand all these aspects be it emotional, financial or economical but AI which runs on automated data feed by humans cannot understand these emotional feelings. So as a healthcare professionals i cannot rely solely on automation when it comes to treating patients.

Apart from these lacking emotional ability it is not that AI is 100 percent correct. When it comes to accuracy i myself have found so many times while using chatgpt that it gives you some hypothetical data which doesn’t exists in reality. It is not just my personal experience I hope you might have came accross AI being inaccurate.

There are so many articles and news reports which covers this error specifically in healthcare department. These can be as follows:-

A. According to a 2025 report, ECRI (a nonprofit focused on healthcare safety) put “insufficient governance of AI” as one of the top patient safety concerns.

B. USCF in their recent headlines quoted “Editor’s Pick: Study Finds AI Medical Tools Show Bias, Potential for Misdiagnosis and Patient Harm”

C. According a news by Times of India under headlines “New study warns! Routine AI use may affect doctors’ tumor diagnostic skills by 20%” stated that over relying on AI can lead to decrease in doctors skills.

So I am not saying that we should completely avoid using AI. Using AI under proper human guidance is very beneficial but solely depending on machine is alarming and threatening.

So I ask for your opinion as to what you think as a healthcare practitioners are you giving all charges to AI?? Can you trust AI for your health as well??

Let me know in the comments below!

AI is a powerful tool, but it can’t replace human judgement, empathy, or clinical intuition. Technology should support healthcare professionals, not overshadow them, and your examples show why balanced, supervised use is essential. I completely agree that patient care is safest when AI and human expertise work together, not independently.

As a healthcare practitioner, I’d say AI is a tool, not a replacement. It can support decisions, speed up analysis, and catch patterns we might miss, but the final clinical judgment must always stay with trained professionals.

Of course, completely relying on AI tools is not acceptable, AI can just be used to enhance the workflow and to assist humans. It is also important to program and carefully train these models for accurate decision-making.

In the current scenario, the results obtained from AI, especially in the healthcare sector, must be carefully reviewed before taking any action. AI still needs human oversight to ensure accuracy and safety. However, with rapid advancements, this may change in the near future as AI becomes more reliable and sophisticated.
