Beyond the Textbook: Your go-to Medical Podcasts and YouTube Channels

In the field of Medicine and Healthcare, the learning never stops and sometimes the best lessons are not found in a textbook. Podcasts and YouTube channels have become powerful tools these days for medical students and healthcare professionals to stay sharp, motivated, and informed on the go. From deep-dive discussions on pathology to information on an important drug and it’s action, these resources can turn a commute or coffee break into a learning session.

Here are a few, I personally like and follow:

Podcasts: The Undifferentiated Medical Student, EMCrit, and The Nature Medicine

YouTube Channels: MedCram, Dr. Najeeb Lectures, and AsapSCIENCE

– Which podcasts or YouTube channels have truly transformed the way you study, think, or practice?

– How do you integrate them into your learning routine without replacing essential reading?

– Have any specific episodes/videos shaped your clinical thinking?

Medicine is a lifelong journey of learning, and the smartest clinicians are those who adapt to new ways of gaining knowledge. Podcasts and YouTube channels aren’t just convenient they bring expert voices and visual clarity into our daily routines, making even idle moments productive. When used alongside textbooks and clinical experience, they can sharpen our skills, broaden our perspectives, and keep our curiosity alive long after the lectures end.

Yes , you are right YouTube channels and podcasts nowadays has became a source of learning for medical Student and healthcare professionals . Talking about me I don’t have any favourite YouTube channels or podcast. When I want to learn something from YouTube I generally type the name of topic on which I want information and then see 2 and 3 videos to clear my concept regarding that topic and enhance my knowledge

Yes. Many podcasts and YouTube videos uncover the hidden facts and helps in improving the understanding of the concept. In podcasts along with information they uncover the taboo topics which really helps.

@anujpatil Thank you for highlighting that. Yes, talking about taboo topics is very important and through platform like this, one can get awareness even if they don’t want to discuss about their issues publicly or if they don’t feel comfortable about it.

Love this! I’ve found that a well-chosen podcast or video can spark curiosity in ways textbooks sometimes can’t. It’s like getting a mini-mentorship session on the go.
