SSRIs and SNRIs are mostly considered safe for long-term usage and out of these two again, SSRIs are mostly safe, as it is only concentrating on maintaining the serotonin level inside the body; whereas, SNRIs uplifts the levels of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Benzodiazepines are always prescribed for short-term use and it’s issued to someone with updated prescriptions mostly. As these drugs are very efficient in slowing down the nerve activity within brain, it works quickly during any intense situation. These drugs are mostly habit-forming and one can get easily addicted to it, that’s why it has to be used first for few weeks and then only on SOS basis. Long term usage of benzodiazepines can impact the alertness, focus, learning, and decision making of a human mind. It can make the person such that, he/she will not be able to feel or think anything, but these are long-term effects and a short-duration utilization has no severe impact. Besides, when someone’s diet is neat and there’s no sedentary lifestyle and when the person stays well hydrated, most of the side-effects never happen or happen at a very mild level. Anxiety medications like mostly SSRIs can be safely taken for few years with other lifestyle interventions when it is really needed to support a mental health issue.
