Well explained @Jigunu How much ever we ask some patients don’t completely reveal their medical history thinking they are irrelevant for dental treatment. Every time we may not be cautious enough to identify such cases either because of busy day or some other critical case and may brush off trivial signs. You have just highlighted how pre procedural work is as critical as doing good treatment.

This is a tragic incident. Patient often do this to save them from the routine blood tests and don’t understand the depth behind a dental procedure. This reminds me of the teachers in my dental school and why they emphasised so much on taking detailed medical history. A small neglect can lead to serious and sometimes fatal situations.

Medical history is very important. It would be better if we provide patients with a form having options where they can fill up their medical history and we can let them know the importance of doing so.

Yes in reviewing patient history, patient should give his full past history to prevent further disorder in future and sometimes patient forget to tell doctor about their past medication so in reviewing history doctor should ask about their past data for once.

Many patients have same thought that the medical history is not that important or they neglect it because it was past and by following medications and treatments it is treated and will not cause any serious problems in future but the thinking is absolutely wrong. Even minute problems related to health and information about all the previous medications should be described before performing or consuming any type of medicines and treatment as it has impact on our body.
