3D printed windpipe revolutionizes organ transplantation

Doctors at Seoul st.mary hospital in south korea have successfully implanted a 3D printed bio engineered windpipe into a women in her 50s marking a milestone in the field of organ regeneration.
This custom designed windpipe was made from biodegradable polymer scaffold infused with stem cells and cartilage cells. It was built directly from her MRI and CT scans.
Her body began forming new blood vessels,tissues within the implant after six months of surgery. Within next few years, the scaffold will dissolve leaving behind fully regenerated trachea.
This breakthrough can revolutionize the future of organ transplantation.
