Beginning the Journey
The expected completion time for the internship at MedBound is one month. While a few interns from my batch successfully completed it within that period, many others took around two months, and for some, it may even take longer.
I later realized that the internship mainly depends on your consistency, writing quality, and dedication. Delays in completion are completely normal because the process involves article writing, reviews, corrections, and occasional rejections. Instead of panicking about the timeline, interns should focus on learning, improving, and staying consistent throughout the journey.
Rejections Are Normal
One important thing every new intern should understand is that article rejection is part of the process. During my internship, I submitted around 40 to 45 articles, but only about 29 to 30 were accepted.
At times, this can feel disappointing, especially after spending time researching and writing. However, rejection does not always mean your work is poor. Sometimes articles may not fit editorial requirements or audience expectations. The key is to continue writing and improving.
Low Reach Can Affect Motivation
Not every article will receive attention or high views. Some of my articles received very little reach, which felt discouraging initially. But over time, I understood that consistency matters more than numbers.
At the same time, some articles may perform unexpectedly well. One of my articles on the recent Ebola outbreak was even featured on LinkedIn, which became one of the most memorable moments of my internship.
Writing About Physiotherapy and My Area
Most of my articles focused on physiotherapy topics such as rehabilitation, TENS therapy, spirometry, and healthcare related subjects. I also wrote about my own area, Kashmir, which truly enthrilled me because it allowed me to connect my writing with the realities and experiences around me.
Through this internship, I realized that medical writing is not just about publishing articles,It is also about sharing perspectives, spreading knowledge, and helping people understand healthcare topics better.
Advice for Future Interns
My advice for future interns is simple: stay patient and consistent. Do not focus only on completing the internship quickly. Even one hour of focused writing daily can help you improve gradually.
The MedBound internship teaches discipline, resilience, and consistency. There may be disappointments along the way, but the experience and learning make the journey worthwhile.
