What does Adhesive Capsulitis so common in Diabetic Patients - Reason?

Adhesive Capsulitis, commonly known as frozen shoulder condition in which all the active and passive movements of the shoulder joint got restricted and painful as well.

The most commonly affected age group is middle aged people from 30s to 50s.

In our OPDs as well, frozen shoulder cases are so frequent.

And it is more common in the patient with diabetes.
So what is the reason behind the association between the risk factor diabetes and Adhesive Capsulitis?

People with diabetes especially type 1 and type 2 are 2 to 4 times more likely to develop adhesive capsulitis than people without diabetes.

Diabetic patients are more prone to adhesive capsulitis due to collagen glycation, microvascular damage, chronic inflammation, and altered biomechanics, all of which contribute to capsular thickening, fibrosis, and restricted shoulder movement.
