This imbalance in nutrition is dangerous and leads to disease in the early stages of life. Government initiatives should be planned so that all children can access them.
Malnutrition and obesity both are the major problems in India we need to be very careful of our diet the food quality and quantity both are equally important.
This is a very important post. India’s double burden of malnutrition—undernutrition and rising childhood obesity shows how complex the challenge has become. The statistics on obesity are alarming, and the long‑term health and economic impact will be huge. Promoting balanced nutrition, awareness, and active lifestyles in both low and high‑income groups is the way forward.Very important topic it is
No a nation cannot progress if children suffer from obesity. This makes mid day meals for children at school a necessity. Double malnutrition problem is very real. Obesity too is a concern I
Its true that effect will be on the nation too since children today become the adults tomorrow. Despite the rising NGOs and public health programmes and digital platforms, implementation of the ideas is still limited
Double burden of malnutrition refers to under nutrition and over nutrition that exists in a developing country like in India. Over nutrition happens in economically well stabilized families where children are fed with nutrition in excess than what is needed whereas under nutrition happens in low socio-economic status communities. Both of them are equally inappropriate, instead parents should have a knowledge of proper diet , the quantity, and quality where everything should be fed to children in a balance way responsibly protecting their child.
The double burden of malnutrition in Indian children reflects changing lifestyle and dietary patterns in India. This issue requires stronger nutrition education, early screening and community level involvement to ensure healthy growth and long term well-being.
yes i too aware about this Malnutrition.
while i was in pregnancy i took lot of care for my child but due to lack of awareness and due to negativity the pregnancy women may not able to fulfill all nutrition’s to kids.
one one to all upcoming mothers and mothers from my side is” your the one for your child. you are the first priority to your child so why cant you make them as your first!.
think as a world that you and your upcoming baby then no malnutrition word.
The problem isnt about food availability, its about the awareness and food quality. Must educate about nutrition education at the community levels.
India is burdened with malnutrition mainly due to lack of proper education about nutrition. Practice of veg only diet further leads to protein deficiency and malnutrition in individuals. Vegetarians are not aware about protein sources available to them.
Yes. Everyone has to work for removing the problem of malnourishment.
The reason is awareness among common masses is very low. The marketing of processed food is done in such a manner that parents feel that this food is better. Take the example of biscuits or breakfast cereals. They are Marketed as healthy but are very high in sugar content and processed carbs.
This goes on to show that nutrition is not only about quantity of food but also quality and lifestyle patterns because under nutrition and childhood obesity coexists in Indian society nowadays.
Tackling this challenge will need stronger nutrition education, healthier school environments and early lifestyle habits that support balanced diets as well as regular physical activities.
India is also a major country with children who barely gets a proper nutritional food. The government has made some arrangements for them but still it is in vain. Government has to concentrate more on poor children and try to provide them protein and fat rich foods to help india become free from malnutrition country.
Yess it’s absolutely true
No, True Nation Building is greatly dependent upon the People of the nation. The Health and Development of the citizens is the foremost prerequisite in Nation Building. For the development of an healthy Nation, Obesity and Malnutrition should be both tackled to enable :
- Proper nutrition levels in children
- BMI Management
- Proper FDS through FDS
- Reduce in overall illness ratio in the country
As a future healthcare professional, it’s concerning that children face both hunger and excess. Balanced nutrition, education, and active lifestyles must grow together to protect the next generation.
Active lifestyle, Balanced nutrition is always helpful for growing children to support their immune system. Poor diet and lack of awareness, in rural areas, and an increase in technology making people adapt to processed food in urban areas. Educational camps should be conducted in their communities, especially for parents.
Well since the 2000s there has been rise of obesity in under age childrens well. Its not just a single problem but a two. Malnutrition in a economy weaker class and obesity in middle as well as upper class. I personally think is government should release advisory towards health for the middle class and upper class or the people who live in tier 1 cities and tier 2 as well and for tier 3 cities and below there should be government personal providing adequate rations and management for weaker class section ( its better than spending money in free rations) and in addition to that they should start monitoring the schools as well and what type of lunch they provide if they provide ofc.
The simple answer to this context is a nation’s prosperity is directly tied to the vitality of its youth. If India’s future generations are trapped between the extremes of hunger and obesity, the path to true progress will remain blocked. Real growth requires a healthier food environment and a culture that prioritizes physical movement for every child, regardless of their economic background.
