# Revolution in Medicine: The Birth of Babies with DNA from 3 People! 👶

Scientists in the UK have successfully helped bring to life eight healthy babies using a groundbreaking technique called **Mitochondrial Donation Treatment (MDT)** — often called the **“three-parent baby”** method.

Here’s how it works:  
🔬 Mitochondria are tiny powerhouses inside our cells with their own DNA inherited only from the mother. Sometimes, defective mitochondrial DNA can cause serious diseases.  
🧪 In MDT, scientists replace the mother’s faulty mitochondrial DNA with healthy mitochondrial DNA from a donor egg — while keeping the parents’ original nuclear DNA intact.

This means the baby has genetic material from **three people** : the mother, the father and a mitochondrial donor.

So far, the babies born through this method are healthy and thriving! While still new and closely regulated, this medical breakthrough is opening doors for safer pregnancies and healthier lives.
