**What if the solution to antibiotic resistance isn’t a new antibiotic but a virus?**

As antibiotic-resistant bacteria continue to rise, scientists are revisiting a century-old idea: **phage therapy**.

**Bacteriophages** or simply **phages** are viruses that infect **only bacteria**. Unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics, many phages target specific bacterial strains, leaving beneficial microbes largely untouched.

Why is this gaining attention again?

- Phages can kill bacteria that no longer respond to antibiotics.
- They naturally evolve alongside bacteria, potentially helping them overcome newly developed bacterial resistance.
- Researchers are also exploring **phage-antibiotic combinations** where the two work together to improve treatment outcomes.

**Phage therapy isn’t a replacement for antibiotics yet. Challenges such as identifying the right phage, regulatory approval and large-scale clinical trials remain.** But with antimicrobial resistance becoming one of the world’s biggest health threats, an old idea is finding new life through modern biotechnology.

Sometimes, the future of medicine begins by taking another look at the past.

**Would you trust a virus to cure a bacterial infection if antibiotics failed?**

Phage therapy is an unexplored area in biotechnology. Exploring bacteriophages for killing disease causing bacteria and utilizing this unique ability of viruses can truly combat antibiotic resistance problem. If it works in future, i will surely support phage therapy.

Very interesting post! If supported by strong clinical evidence and approved safety data, I would certainly consider phage therapy. With antimicrobial resistance becoming a major global challenge, exploring innovative approaches like this could be an important step forward.

Yes, if it has been proven to be safe and effective. Phage therapy offers a targeted approach against antibiotic-resistant bacteria and could become a valuable option when antibiotics no longer work. While more clinical evidence and regulatory approvals are still needed.

It is being explored as a potential solution against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, especially when conventional antibiotics fail.
Phage therapy offers a targeted approach with fewer effects on beneficial bacteria, but more research is needed for widespread clinical use.

Absolutely. Antibiotic resistance is increasing day by day. It is one of the ten global threat. We need to find other ways to tackle the bacteria which are evolving faster than we can develop new antibiotics.
