Hey, it is a very interesting career choice and good opportunity to serve the country after MBBS/BDS.
So, when vacancies are announced, in the Indian army website you have to apply for SSB (Service Selection Board) and clear an interview and medical examination. Once short listed, you have to be medically fit to be selected. There is priority for the ward of the martyred army personnel and ex-army personnel. otherwise, no reservation.
You can opt out after 5 years of service if you do not wish to continue. (in case of short service commission).
Another way is to join the army medical colleges after NEET. After graduation you have to serve in the army for a period of time.
After BDS you have to clear the NEET MDS to apply. If short listed, interview and medical examination.
Your first posting might be in a very remote places . So should be prepared to be a proper army personnel before you opt for this. There is generally good amount of competition.
If selected you will be commissioned to the rank of Captain.
You can be selected for permanent commission too..(ie work in the army till you retire.) if your age and other requirements are met.
