NEET primarily tests rote learning and theoretical knowledge, often overlooking critical thinking and practical aptitude essential for medical practice.

It may disadvantage students from under-resourced backgrounds who lack access to intensive coaching.

What are your thoughts?

I agree that it is not an entirely fair assessment, but the subject matter it covers encompasses all these necessary aspects very briefly (although insufficiently). But truly, the system is against the favour of the underprivileged, there should be a better way.

I agree that NEET promotes rote memorization over real clinical reasoning. A more balanced system could reflect the skills needed in actual medical practice.

Here is a post about a mix of assessments would create a more balanced system compared to the current format in NEET

> According to you, is it fair for our fate to be decided by a single exam ? Is the current mcq pattern and fixed syllabus along with rigorous coaching helpful or would a mix of assessment methods like board exam marks, interviews and practical tests create a more balanced system? Should India just stick with NEET or open up different pathways for aspiring medical students in India ? Lets discuss about it

I don’t think it is.
I mean sure chemistry helps to an extent
But what about the laws of physics where do we apply it in medical life?
Basics yes but the complex part learned for NEET I don’t think ever
