I pledge to give way to Ambulance: DO YOU?

Ambulance delays in India are a serious issue, often resulting inadequate medical care, and sometimes even fatalities. The ambulance response time is expected to be 20 minutes in urban areas and 30 minutes in rural regions.
These delays are due to -
•Traffic congestion.
•Shortage of ambulances.
•Poor road conditions.
•Delay in processing emergency calls.
•Extreme weather conditions.
Because of such negligence, many people lose their loved ones.
As a responsible citizen of India, we should always give way to ambulance first and guide others to do the same.

Ever experienced such cases in your workplace?
Do you think Hospital Management is responsible for this?

It’s a helpless feeling to know that time something we can’t control cost someone a fighting chance. Giving way to an ambulance might delay you by 30 seconds but it might save someone’s entire life. Be the difference. Be aware. Be human.

Giving way to ambulances is something that should be followed by everyone with highest morality. Every minute inside an ambulance is crucial for a cardiac arrest/stroke/accident/other physical-trauma related cases, as each moment is about life and death during that time. Now too it is observed that people get irritated by the loud sirens of ambulance rather than considering it as a signal of emergency. Hence, awareness should get more firmer here by generating more empathy towards situation like this as it’s all about understanding another human just like us. I personally do not think ambulance delay mostly happens because of faults in hospital management, as it may take time to co-ordinate with everyone and everything that’s required for this process. Most of the times delay happen due to poor roads and poor responses of people on the road that doesn’t allow the ambulance to move faster and in a smooth manner. Also it is important for the emergency rooms to be set-up when the ambulance arrives, so that the patient can be looked at immediately without any delay.

Yes i completely agree with this. People in our country lack civic sense , they don’t care about other lives, they ignore loud sirens of ambulance its a signal of someone life and death. Every seconds counts in saving life .
We all should become a responsible and empathetic citizen of this country , we need more awareness and basic humanity in such moments .

So true, giving way to the ambulance is a moral duty not just a rule. I aways try my best to give way and make others give way to the ambulance. I think developing existing apps that integrate ambulance in the real-time traffic tracking can help traffic control assist ambulances. Then we need to spread awareness how delaying an ambulance can cost a life so people should give way to it.

Everyone should give way to ambulance

And NO it’s not hospital management’s fault.

The traffic is the main cause for all this
I lost my grandmother in an ambulance, not because it was late but because of the delay of traffic

The roads should be made wide, and a separate section should be made specially for an ambulance, No other vehicles allowed.
That how an ambulance can bypass traffic!!

Agreed. In India due to heavy traffic many patients lose their lives. By spreading awareness about ambulance emergencies and providing special lane for ambulance can decrease the number of patients during due to not getting proper treatment at right time.

Absolutely, I pledge to give way to ambulances always. That few seconds of delay could mean a life lost. I’ve seen how every minute counts during emergencies, and it’s heartbreaking when help is just stuck in traffic. It’s not just about awareness, it’s about empathy and responsibility.

I always make way for ambulances and not just because it’s the law in India, but because it saves lives. According to the Motor Vehicles Act, blocking an ambulance can result in a ₹10,000 fine or even jail time. But beyond the penalties, every second counts in the golden hour so moving aside isn’t just lawful it’s essential.
