A recent case from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh has been in the headlines for a very rare form of ectopic pregnancy. The doctors has discovered a 12-week old foetus growing inside the liver of the mother, instead of the uterus. This condition, known as intrahepatic ectopic pregnancy has reported to be the first such case in India. The 30 year old mother sought medical care after experiencing persistent abdominal pain and vomiting and was referred for an MRI scan, which revealed this startling anomaly. According to the radiologist, the gestational sac was present inside the right lobe of the liver and the scan also confirmed active cardiac pulsations, which indicated that the foetus is alive. This incident has left the medical community in a shock considering the rarest possibility of this condition and also highlights the importance of understanding rare pregnancy complications and improving prenatal diagnosis and regular check-ups. ---

Mind-blowing! I’ve never heard of an intrahepatic ectopic pregnancy before, where a fetus grows in the mother’s liver. It’s surprising that the baby is alive. Thanks for sharing this rare and remarkable case! ---
