Captagon : What it is and Why it is a Concern

Reducing the use of synthetic drug needs a proper comprehensive and scientific knowledge about it. It needs to work the supplier and public demand simultaneously. Medicines like these should be taken via prescription only. These drugs are very harmful if taken continously. People should be educated about them and should spread awareness about them

Strict rules and regulation from the government for the manufacturing of such medicines and awareness among pharmacist , people , children is what I think can resolve the problem of misuse.

Yes, agreed with your statement.

Govt should take action against it.

If it’s a synthetic substance that’s not used for attention disorders and narcolepsy anymore, my question is why is it still available in the market?

And if this drug is available, many more such drugs which should have vanished from the market must still be openly being sold and that’s a dangerous situation to be in.

Valid concern, Captagon persists due to illegal production, high black-market demand, and weak enforcement; similarly, other banned drugs still circulate, exposing gaps between regulation and real-world control.

Spot on. The most powerful weapon against synthetic drug misuse is aggressive public awareness and early education tailored for everyone - from school children to illiterate communities. However, awareness alone isn’t enough; the government must enforce strict regulations, especially within pharmacies and supply chains, to completely choke the illicit diversion of banned drugs. Combining deep community education with tight legal accountability is the only way to minimize this crisis and protect society.

Definitely, awareness campaigns are crucial for better public health.

Reducing the misuse of synthetic drugs requires a combination of public awareness, early education, mental health support, strict regulation, and effective law enforcement. Prevention and awareness are often just as important as control measures.
