Many people associate zoonotic diseases with huge outbreaks, but we are often at a much bigger risk from the little things we do in our daily life. Sometimes the risk does not come from obvious animal bites or contamination. It may come from unpasteurized milk, scooping your cat’s litter, a friendly lick from your pet on an injury, ticks, fleas, or poorly cooked meat. Farmers, veterinarians, dairy workers, and even families in rural areas unknowingly face risk of exposure. What makes these illnesses tricky is that they begin with vague symptoms like fever, body pain, headache, or stomach upset which resembles common infections. With changing climates, urban wildlife contact, and close human-animal interaction, I wonder if zoonotic diseases deserve far more public awareness than they currently get. Do you think people know enough about how everyday habits around animals and food can affect human health? MBH/PS ---

We do not have so much knowledge about zoonotic diseases. Awareness is a must. Today we see large number of people now a days have pets at home. First education to them about zoonotic disease should be made mandatory. ---

I feel awareness about zoonotic diseases is still quite low. Many people don’t realize that simple habits like handling pets, consuming unpasteurized milk, or eating improperly cooked food can pose risks. Since symptoms often look like common fever or infections, they get ignored initially. There is definitely a need for more public education on safe daily practices and hygiene to prevent these diseases. ---

Exactly.. people not know about pet hygiene and how to maintain hygiene while having pet..they treat and maintain very vaguely..There should be campaign for awareness and some strict rules like for vaccination. ---
