💊 **Antibiotics: Why Shouldn’t We Stop Them When We Feel Better?**

_Have you ever stopped taking an antibiotic as soon as you started feeling better?_

Many people do this because they think the infection has completely gone. But feeling better does not always mean that the infection has been fully treated.

Antibiotics should be taken only when prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional and exactly as directed. Stopping treatment early, taking leftover antibiotics, or using antibiotics unnecessarily can contribute to antimicrobial resistance.

🦠 What is antimicrobial resistance?

Antimicrobial resistance occurs when microorganisms no longer respond effectively to medicines that were previously able to treat them. This can make infections more difficult to treat and may leave fewer treatment options in the future.

_As a PharmD student, I feel that antibiotics should never be taken casually. We should avoid self-medication, never share antibiotics, and follow the treatment instructions provided by healthcare professionals._

> Antibiotics are powerful medicines—but their effectiveness also depends on how responsibly we use them.

**Have you ever seen someone stop taking antibiotics as soon as they started feeling better? What do you think can help improve awareness about responsible antibiotic use?**

This is such an important public health message. Educating people about completing prescribed antibiotic courses can go a long way in reducing antimicrobial resistance. Great post!🌻

The sale of antibiotics should be more restricted. Doctors can explain antibiotic resistance to patients while prescribing one.

I completely agree. Restricting the sale of antibiotics is important, but patient education is equally essential.

Yeah, it is very important that you seek professional advice from healthcare department for your treatment, people should stop taking medicines on their own, and this practice should be stopped to avoid any life threatening condition.
Also healthcare professionals should provide them guidance about these to keep them safe.

It’s high time that the general public be educated about antibiotic resistance.
