This is a very clear and important distinction.
Your examples explain it well: drowsiness from an antihistamine is a predictable side effect, while a severe rash or breathing difficulty after an antibiotic is an adverse drug reaction and needs prompt attention.
Understanding this difference helps patients avoid unnecessary fear while also recognizing warning signs that should never be ignored. It also highlights why reporting ADRs plays a vital role in improving drug safety and pharmacovigilance.

No, side effects are not mentioned on strips and packages.
But are written in leaflets given with some medicines.
Important thing is if you feel any side effects you inform it to any Healthcare profesional.
And now days you can also find the suse effects of most drugs on internet. If you feel yours are not Common that means it is serious.

Also common side effects are:
Nausea
Drowsiness
Dry mouth
Vomiting
Constipation
Itching
Etc.
But even if you have these side effects, you must mention it to healthcare professional

I personally experience severe drowsiness as a side effect after each use of acetaminophen. But recently came across a study revealing hepatotoxic effect of acetaminophen, which I understand it to be a long term ADR.
