When we face tense situations like speaking in front of a crowd, playing a tough sport or getting into a conflict our body reacts. The heart beats faster, sweat appears and sometimes words just don’t come out. This happens because of adrenaline rush.
What Exactly is Adrenaline?
Adrenaline also called epinephrine is a hormone released by adrenal gland located on top of each kidney. It is released during threat. When a threat is perceived by the brain, the amygdala (emotional center) of the brain signals the hypothalamus (command center of the brain). The hypothalamus communicates with the adrenal glands via the sympathetic nervous system signaling the adrenal medulla to release adrenaline in the bloodstream. This leads to adrenaline rush .
