# ADC exams for practicing in Australia as dentist

1. Initial Assessment  
Mode: Online

Cost: AUD 647

Timeframe: 8 weeks

Validity: 7 years

Documents Required (as per ADC):

Current passport

Recent passport photo (must meet Australian passport guidelines)

Evidence of name change (if applicable)

Dental qualification certificate / testamur

Academic transcript

Internship certificate (if part of qualification)

Evidence of dental registration or licence

Good standing certificate

1. Written Exam

Format: MCQ-based exam with scenario-based questions

Time : Conducted in 2 days

Mode: In-person (at Pearson VUE test centres in India)

Pattern : Total 280 questions.  
The passing score is determined by borderline regression and cluster-based performance.

Cost: AUD 2122

Timeframe: 5 months

Frequency: Conducted twice a year (around March and September)

Attempts: No limit on number of attempts

1. Practical Exam  
Format:

Day 1: Practical (on manikin)

Day 2: OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination – includes patient communication)

Mode: In-person (Melbourne, Australia)

Cost: AUD 4775

Timeframe: 4 to 7 months

Validity: No expiry

Frequency: Conducted three times a year

Jan–May

May–Aug

Aug–Dec

Attempts: Unlimited within 3 years from passing the written exam

After 3 years, candidates must retake the written exam
