A decade of Pandemic and Wars

From the year 2020, the world has been facing many problems: the pandemic, conflicts between countries, inflation, lack of jobs, and so on. This has created a feeling that time is moving fast after 2020. Every family likely has a story to tell after COVID. We even saw a glimpse of our country in a war-like situation in 2025.

With all that is happening around us, there are certain essential things I believe everyone should be prepared with. When an emergency arises, we can’t afford to search for necessary documents or details. It could be a natural calamity like an earthquake or sudden evacuation due to situations like ongoing war.

1. Basic needs: water, non-perishable food products like nuts, protein bars, biscuits.

2. Important documents: all educational certificates, ID cards, bank documents, birth certificates, insurance papers, and any other relevant documents — keep them in one single bag.

3. Power banks, cables, torch with batteries.

4. Emergency cash.

5. First aid kit, face mask, gloves, and at least one strip of regular medicines.

6. Spare keys for home or vehicle.

7. A pair of clothes and a blanket.

Emergencies don’t arise with caution — so it’s better to be prepared.

Also, it’s always better to ensure there’s a detailed written note of all investments, loans, passwords, property, or shares, so the family knows about them even in your absence.

You’ve shared some really practical wisdom here. I’d add that keeping digital backups of key documents in secure cloud storage can be a lifesaver. Regularly updating your emergency kit ensures you’re truly ready when the unexpected happens.

Eye-opening post. We do need to take precautions when alarming incidents are happening at the same time. As responsible citizens, we must also keep in mind that we should never create panic and must handle all solutions with rational thought.
